It is not a bad transmission if it is done up right.
Stock 4l60e's behind any sort of power and you can kiss the 3-4 clutch pack goodbye.
Speaking of 4L60e, I have a few laying around waiting on rebuilds if anyone is interested in an upgrade. :D
I have a couple of 700R4's already done just in case any 3rdgenners need one. :D

people who want to be quick down the strip run stalled 4L60E's until they're FAST, then they run TH400's or similar transmissions. M6s are really fun street transmissions and are great strip transmissions until you get below 9.5 or so.
and that is about the extent of my transmission knowlege, exept that i know mine will need to be rebuilt in about 25k miles or so. LOL.

a BUILT 4l60e will get you into the low 10's, but it need to be a quality build up
if you want single digits you need something else

Hey, how hard is it to tell if an output shaft is bent? Does that part of the transmission come off/apart easily?
The TA has a really bad vibration (that keeps getting worse). It's not tires/wheels, or driveshaft. Coming from the rear/middle (not the front). More noticeable on decel.
I'm going to go through the rear end and replace all the bearings when I put the T2R in. But if that's not it, then the only other 2 things I can think of are pinion yoke and tranny output shaft...

from my experiences torque and raceweight are big factors on how far you can push a 4L60.
a T56 will handle a shitload if you aren't powershifting. powershifting a stock one will kill it, usually via a key or two busting and going for a ride in the trans. that's what i did, was fun while it lasted tho. can always buy the G force T56..that thing is beyond badass. but wow what a price tag.

have u checked the tranny mount itself. that's what it sounds like to me, unless you already checked it.
