Rode endurao back in teen years, ended up in a cast to my hip for 5 months. Now, want to ride streets but I don't want a big heavy hard to hold up bike. I'm looking for recommendations. I'm medium height and I've ridden the Suzuki 650 single, liked it; the Yamaha 650 v-twin and liked it. The only Harley I road was a big dresser and it felt way tooooooo heavy for me. Anyone here who has been in the market recently for a lighter bike that still had enough power to keep up with traffic? I'm not looking to race; if I was I'd buy a crotch rocket. And I'm not looking to ride further than 200 miles at a time. I just want something comfortable enough to stay on for 3 hours at most and able to keep up with interstate traffic but also as light as possible.

Triumph Oooooooooooooooo...... Dad had a friend who had an old restored Triumph 650cc Bonneville. He let me ride it. I didn't even think of Triumph. I'm gonna do some searching on altavista and see where the nearest dealership is. I hope Baton Rouge has one. I lurved the old British bikes. Saw a Norton and a BSA in Helen, Georgia last year and drooled on the sidewalks until sisters dragged me on down the street.

Thansk for the idea. If I can find a Triumph dealership close enough.....

Those Indians are awesome!!! I started out on a lil Honda Twinstar (I was 18, 1st bike), then had a Honda CM450E (comfy...), then I bought a brand new Kawasaki 454 liquid/belt (I was like 22 & rode her all the way from Ft. Laud, FL to Chicago solo). Since then, I've had several Honda CBR's & the most recent adoptee (just this year) is a Yamaha R6.

Love lots of the new bikes and old one's as well. My sister is a Ural dealer---the funky bikes with side-cars. She used to be up in N. IN, but recently relocated her business to Salt Lk. City.

Anyhow, I'd suggest just visiting as many of the local dealerships, etc. as you can & seeing what grabs you...as well as fits you feel wise. Nothing like the wind in the face & the knees in the breeze!!!:D Good luck on your hunt...

An R6 and the Honda CBR? Those are crotch rockets! I've always been a little afraid of those, never rode one.

Ya know what says motorcycles to me? Riding through the woods and you can tell there is a stream or river around the next bend before you see it because you smell the fresh water first. You can't duplicate that in an automobile except perhaps a convertable.

After bikes my next favorite ride is helicopters. I don't fly but I normally get the seat next to the pilot so at least once a week I get to fly. Once on a 212 the pilote let me hold the stick. I was real proud of myself until after about 15 minutes he pointed at the artificial horizon and I was flying in tilted slgithly to the left.

Yeah, bikes and helos are the way to go, lol

I've got a V-star 1100 and as far as lightweight bikes goes it's pretty sweet.

It only weighs a little more than the 650 you were comfortable on, and it'll have enough power to keep you satisfied if you're into the lighter side of the house. Personally, I love the bike, but I'm ready to move up now
