Last night, I decided to clean and polish my rims. I have American Racing Torq Thrust II's and they're polished aluminum.
So far, I've just washed them with a mild dish soap and my cleaning mit just like I wash my car. After that, I normally follow it up and an Ammonia free lens cleaner and they normally look great.
Since I had them off the car for the winter (they use salt here and I don't want to ruin the wheels), And I had the American Racing Metal Polish, and American Racing Wheel Wax, I decided to get them clean and polished up for this year.
So here's the before:

Those look pretty good. I usually use Mother's aluminum polish when its an aluminum wheel tho - gets that stuff lookin like chrome.
My next rims won't be polished or chrome so I'll just have to use a clear wax.

I got the ARE stuff when I bought the wheels, and since it's the factory formulas I figured it would work.
If you compare the first clean picture to the after-wax picture, you can see a difference. They really shine now. The pictures don't really do them justice.
I might try that Mother's stuff though.
One thing I did try was the Mother's PowerBall on one of the wheels, and I hate it. It's too stiff, and doesn't get into the nooks and crannys like I was hoping.
