Shelby has announced that vintage , period correct Shelby emblems , along with a few other parts , will not longer be available even through their licensed vendors. They will only be available through Shelby and proof will be required that you have an actual Shelby Mustang to purchase them. Also, they are now targeting eBay auctions and auctions like Barrett-Jackson to cease sales of "cloned" cars. I personally agree with this. Decent cars from the 60's and 70's have gotten out of control pricewise along with shops building cars just for auctions even if they're not trying to pass it off as the real thing . It's wrong and it's unethical. Part of owning a genuine piece of automotive history is somehow diminished by all of these copies. There's probably more "Shelbys " running around now then were built. This is also true of quite a few other cars. Somebody posted a thread here of a completely destroyed AAR 'Cuda on eBay that someone paid over 6,000.00 for because it still had the VIN tags intact. What do you suppose they would be doing with those? Passing another car off as it.
