*Posting for Fast SS on TNT*
I visited my uncle today at the Veterans Hospital here in Omaha. He is a World War II veteran. After the horrors of war, this quiet man of 90 years finds the simple things in life to be best. While some men came home from Europe to resume thier lives in the factories and farms, my uncle came home unable to wash the horrors of war away from his mind. But he found solace....he loved animals. He read every book, watched every show, and found comfort in them. It healed him.
So today, while I made sure he ate all of his dinner I sat with this quiet man, a hero, and asked him what channel he wanted to watch on his tv in the medical ICU. To my shock, he told me his favorite channel wasn't on his TV. He watches Animal Planet, and the Discovery Channel all the time. They are the only thing he watches. Yeah, you guessed it. Those greedy bastards at COX CABLE do not provide cable to the Veterans Hospital.
Can you imagine that? My fucking cable/internet/phone bill is nearly $200 per month, and those filthy bastards at Cox Cable can't even hook up the hero's of our country with cable tv.
So I'm posting this, firing the first shot accross the bow of Cox Cable, and every other greedy corporation that won't provide our veterans with something as simple as cable tv. I hope more then a few of you are outraged by this. I know its just a simple thing, but I watched a Veitnam Veteran paging through all 3 channels, while holding a pillow tight to his stomach after having major abodominal surgery only muttering...."there ain't shit on today".
We take so much for granted, and it may seem simple minded to be angry about a bunch of guys being forced to watch network tv. But my uncle is dying, and all that old man wants is a little more ice cream with his dinner, and to watch some Animal Planet.
Tell somebody, call your congressman or senator. I'm declaring war on the local cable company. Give the hero that I call my mentor cable tv!
Hey, do me a favor...post this link in every website forum you visit. We owe it to veterans to have a little something to watch while in the hospital, or retirement home. Give a hero cable for free. We owe 10,000 times more then that, but we can atleast make sure an old man can see Animal Planet, or Spike TV for a few hours a day.
