I looove this car! I'd have to stuff a V8 in it ( Hot Rod put an LS7 in a Solstice ) but 260 horsies is still pretty adrenaline worthy in a small 2 seater:

I love it!

OOooooooooooooooooh! NICE! I think it would be a great college car for the streets of Louisville. It looks like you could possibly put an LS1 in that baby.

You can. The enginners and designers literally set up the prototype of the Solstice/Sky platform where the car could have a Gen III engine installed. They transferred it to the production car. Hot Rod magazine installed a LS7 engine and a SSR six speed transmission into a Solstice . No cutting was done at all and everything fit great using off-the-shelf production GM parts. It's in the current issue along with a complete list of parts you need to do a LS1/LS2/LS6/LS7 swap . 500 horses in that little car . Wow!

those are sweet cars. the styling on a Sky is very nice. the Solstice is just odd to me for some reason, primarily in the front end

the sky is freakin' gorgeous, its comfy to sit in to. seeing at the auto show really sold me on it, plus the whole turbo with 260 instead of the 177 is a big upper for it. ive heard that block is pretty good for handling power even if you didnt stuff an ls1 in it, which in itself would be amazing. the thing kinda looks like a mini c6 convertible. definitely cant wait till they come out with the hardtop version like they did on the solstice

The ecotec engine has been to 800+hp a number of times, although not in street trim. I do really like the hardtop solstice club racer.

yea the concept they had at the auto show that was in like goldish color with the wing and stuff? it looked much more aggressive than the usual solstice, plus the hardtop looked great so i cant wait to see the hardtop sky.

I think they well be great selling cars. The price is reasonable but they are too small for me. I'm 6'2 and 185lbs and can barely fit in it without my knees eating something.

for the Solstice, its RPO code Z0K(or ZOK) for the racing package. its almost like a Z06 for the Solstice. its not more power, but better suspension, lightweight, and hardtop. there is info on it in the June 2006 Hot Rod. the hardtop is also available seperately

so then i would assume there will be a similar package for the sky right?

More news on the Solstice front:
Hot Rod and GM performance have completed the LS7 Solstice , this car is totally evil.
The 1/4 time was 10.99 @ 133mph (10.99@133mph) ( on street tires!)
600 ft. slalom: 74.9 mph
braking 60-0 : 95 ft
g-pad: 1.05
While these numbers sound really impressive , let's compare some specs from four other cars.
'06 Corvette Z06: 69,000.00
1/4 mile 12.0 @ 124 mph
600 ft. slalom:70.8 mph
braking 60-0: 110feet

'06 Porsche Carrera GT: 448,300.00
1/4 mile: 11.1 @ 133 nph
600ft slalom:73.2mph
braking 60-0: 101 feet

'06 Ferrari Enzo: 652,830.00
1/4 mile:11.0 @133mph
600ft. slalom: 71.0 mph
Braking 60-0:106 feet

'06 Lamborghini Murcielago: 284,850.00
1/4 mile: 11.7 @ 133mph
600ft. slalom: 66.2mph
braking 60-0: 110 feet

The car also 0-60 in 3.32 seconds , 0-140 in 12.19 seconds. And it's not tempermental like the exotic supercars , you can easily get to 100k miles with little maintenance . They did install Brembo brakes and an aftermarket exhaust but the rest of the car is basically stock GM parts and some carbon fiber panels for weight reduction, along with a roll cage for safety and rigidity. Most of the swap was pretty much a bolt in with very little fabrication to be done. The drawback? The Z06 is cheaper in terms of money.

Another interesting sidenote is the 2007 Opel GT available in Europe. Look familiar?

Sounds like this platform is going to be good for GM.
