There you are!
It just amazes me that the LS1 can take that kind of beating and still run strong.
Brings a tear to my eye. :D

I did that in a 305 and all it did was throw the water pump/fan belt.

The pushrods in these cars are weak as shit. Way too many guys have bent them on just hitting the rev limiter etc... Should have had hardened from the factory IMO.

There's a reason they are bent. And the reason is the same reason the ONLY thing you damaged was the pushrods.
IMO it was pretty smart of GM to set it up that way. Pushrods are a lot cheaper than a lot of other things you could have broken.

Very good point. B/c its a lot harder to change valves and more expensive also.

That's the truth! Have you looked into what GM wants for the LS6 valves? Crazy money!

if only more folks would realize why the pushrods are weak - and why to move to hardened pushrods when you move up to a bigger cam.

Yep, Its a hell of alot easier to replace push rods compared to valves

Push rods are fuses for your valves.

pushrods are kinda like "crumple zones" for the motor... I have seen this before where they fail in avoidance of something else very major going wrong.

i got hardened pushrods to install when i put my F13 in soon. hope i don't ever bend valves, but with an agressive cam and strong valvesprings, its a necessity
