I was walking behind a machine that is about the size of 4 refrigerators when a truck (read that as Peterbilt 379 )overshot the front end ramp , slammed into the machine , and slammed it into the wall. I ended up spun around, slammed in the back of my head , and slowly dropped to the floor . I just got home from the hospital. If I had been 6 inches back , I would have been killed instantly. You never appreciate what you have in life or what you've done with it until something like this. Appreciate every breath you have because it could be your last. I'm pretty banged up but I'm ok except for some pain.
Peace out ,
Mike

OMG Mike!!! That is some freakin' insane stuff--- I'm SO glad you're o.k. & were able to get treated & go home. I guess you get to have a few days off to recuperate & let Yyvette nurse you back to health (that might be fun) and if she's too busy and all....
But,yeah hun---you take care & get yourself back in tip-top! Best wishes on a speedy recovery....

Glad to hear you are ok Mike. That is really bad.
I had one of my crew swing a backhoe one day and almost
clip me in the head.
That would have been me gone also..take some time off and recover.

Just got up . I'm pretty sore but I'm still with the program ( sort of) . When the truck hit the machine , it felt like I was hit in the back of the head with a hammer . I honestly never knew what hit me. I spun around , me legs stopped working and I slid to the floor . I laid out , couldn't move and was looking up at the ceiling. I do remember seeing the truck and the machine pushed up against the wall. Next thing I knew there was a ton of people surrounding me , then the ambulance showed up . It was purely unintentional as the driver had some grease on his feet on feet and his foot slipped off the pedal. They gave me some pain ***** and took a cat scan , said I was ok . My head , right hip and right arm hurt pretty good. One thing I don't understand is not only did the driver have to take a blood and alcohol test but I did too. Guess it's a good thing I've been a good boy and not my former naughty self from long ago. I have to go work and let the nurse check me out but I'm not going to be working any overtime for a few days. Anyway , I'm still on the planet and pretty damned lucky to be alive . A matter of inches and I wouldn't be.

Here the weird thing, take every thing that you did thoughout that day and think about it. If you hadn't for example, woke up 2 minutes early, taken a short lunch etc...You could've been in the wrong spot at the wrong time, but for some odd reason everything you do works out to something that almost seems preplanned. I have "almost" been killed twice now, and been in some other risky situations. They all make you think twice about life. But before you know it you'll be back to your normal ways untill something else comes along to give you that reminder.

Mike, I hope you're healing well, and getting better.
Crazy that things like that can happen. Something similar happened to me here at work one day because of my own stupidity. If not for another person to pull me out of harm's way, I might not be here right now myself.
I'm just glad you weren't seriously injured or even worse!

I'm getting ready to go see the doc for a follow up. I feel pretty good and I ought to be able to get back to work.

Yikes, I stay away and come back to this...glad you made it through...
BTW the reason they drug tested you is that Worker's Comp law denies you coverage IF you were intoxicated, and your intoxication played a role in the injury...
