Rebuild the 8.8, upgrade the carrier and axles while you are at it. You can have the T5 rebuilt or if you have the change, buy an aftermarket tranny.

I got some 8.8 parts CHEAP!!! I got some Moser 28 spline axles 5 lug with moroso 3 inch wheel studs, Moser c-clip elimenators, and a factory track lock that has been rebuilt with ford racing clutches. I will take $300 for all of it

Used T-5s go for $200-up.
A T-5 rebuild should cost between $650-700.
I heard the G-Force T-5s are good, but they are pretty high now.
I like the TKO 500/600s. They cost around $2,500 for the trans / bell/ fluid / clutch buying everything new, but do it right and it should last.

my advise would be buy coupe's parts he's selling and get your t5 rebuilt. if you are bank rolling then get the gforce t5 setup. it's expensive but lighter and shifts easier than say a tremec tko600

The 9 inch was never built in a fox body. You will have to have the rearend cut to size and all of the mounts cut off of it and have the fox body rewelded back on. That doesn't even cover the upper control arm mounts that are cast into the 8.8 rearends. You would have to get a center section that has the upper contol arm mounts on it. The fact is, a stock 9 inch really isn't any stronger than an upgraded 8.8.

stick with the 8.8. upgrade some of the stuff in it and you most likely wont break it.

But I've already got a 9inch my step dad gave it to me lol I might just stick with the 8.8

that is true, but by the time you spend the time and money fitting that 9" underneath the mustang, you could've had a nicely built 8.8 over the 9" with whatever is in it now. not worth it in my opinion.

im assuming you would still need 4 lug axles for it....?
is the overall width correct for a fox?
standard or nodular center?
what kinda pinion support?
the 9" trac-loc sucks....

a stock 9" will be quite a bit heavier than an 8.8. you can pour money into it to make it lighter and stronger, but why do all that work when you can just do a couple of things to your 8.8 so you wont have to worry about it?

i would run an 8.8 if there was a reliable means of mounting a torque arm to it. but i think a fabbed 9" with aluminum center can be lighter and stronger.

doable yes.... but since i already have the aluminum center i think i will go to a fabbed housing next with a lighter style torque arm setup on the 9".

Don't think we're attacking you. We just want to see guys spend their money to get the most out of it. The stuff that coupe has for sale is really good equipment and is only a few months old. Hope all of this helps.

just to give you an idea of how much youll spend. i bought axles and a used diff a few months back. i paid 240 for jeggs brand axles (mosers were 280) and 85 for a used diff that wasnt rebuilt. coupes stuff also has c clip eliminators and studs on it. imo, its a pretty good deal. only disadvantage is you will have to buy 5 lug wheels.
