I have learned a lot in my 20 years of life. one of those things is to use your head last summer I lost a close friend because she wasn't thinking and decided to climb into a moving truck through the back sliding window. now I just found out another one of my friends died last night while working on his truck.apparently the truck fell on top of him take these storys as words of advice.always think about the consiquences of things even something simple can turn tragic in a few seconds. even when working on cars something can go bad. By simply putting jackstands under the car when the vehicle is on the hoist a few inches off the groud check it before it goes all the way up. thank you for reading this post.

1. Also don't lay tools on the battery,
2. always disconnect current before doing electrical work
3. Don't leave fluids on the floor
4. if you have your car on ramps put blocks behind the tires and jack stands under if possible
5. use open hand techniques when you can't so you don't bash knuckles
6. wear gloves for the right applications
7. always wear googles when grinding and when using chemicals
8. lift with your legs not your back
9. if it weights more then 50 lbs get some help or use a lifting device
10. Always close razor blades when not in use
11. Cut away from yourself never towards if possible
12. Don't run with blunt or sharp objects that could penetrate skin
13. Don't wear contacts when working with chemicals they just trap it in your eyes if splashed
14. never over tighten nuts and bolts as they will break which could be nasty
15. stay away from swivel sockets as much as possible those are deadly bullets when they fly off.
16. never plug the sidewall of a tire, thats asking for a blow out
17. if it looks unsafe don't do it! Examine the situation and ask for advice

I have seen friends hurt just because they didn't do easy safety tips, I too had a friend crushed by a car because the wind blew on the car untill the jack came out from under it. Luckily he is still around, with only a couple broken bones.

Those are some great comon sense rules.

One of my uncles was killed before I was born by a car falling on him. So jacking a car up safely was something that was always stressed to me growing up.

Sorry to hear about your friends.
