Saw this show on Speed Channel hosted by Dale Earnhardt Jr. that shows vintage footage of NASCAR races , good stuff! The 2 episodes I 've seen so far were early 70's races. It's interesting to watch but it's also kinda painful to see cars that would be worth megabucks today wadded up into the wall. Oh well , that's racing.....

It is also a good comparision of exactly how far racing technology has progressed today. What was state of the art in 1971 seems downright crude by today's standards. It makes a statement on how far the sport has strayed from it's roots.

back when the cars were "stock cars"? those are the glory days IMO. richard petty, the Aero cars, the HEMI and Boss 429 engines. when the cars had personality.

I think that is the biggest turn off of nascar for most people, its like watching an IROC race.

It seems every time a team figures somthing out to make their car better nascar takes it away or decides to control what the teams use.
