I can't confirm or deny that there was a DOS (denial of service) attack on the site yet, but it looks like that is what happened earlier. LWillmann will have to confirm that. As to the cause of why, I don't know that either. Someone does.

I talked to Lee earlier and he said that the servers went down around 5:00 EST. Couldn't confirm the exact reason but they are based up north where the blizzard has been happening.

Chris T. has given me an elaborate story about what happened to him earlier which I can't seem to confirm or deny it yet either. I can and will say that one part of his story is bogus. He told me that LWillmann (CHO Administrator) sent him a text message asking him what was up with the site. That definitely never happened. As for the rest of the story, he seems to be the only one who knows if he is telling 100% of the truth.

I'll look into this more tomorrow.

As far as the texts go with the administrator, someone identifying himself as the administrator of this forum texted me among the numerous texts I was receiving and asked what was going on, I may have gotten confused and Gary I wasn't charged with anything, I was suspected. Falsely, might I add. As far as the website is concerned it looked like it was a Brute Force DoS attack on the host would require not only incredible amounts of computing power but an extremely fast connection. Neither of which do I have. I have no reason to randomly attack or lie to a website full of what I like to call friends, good night.

So, what area code was this text from this person claiming to be the Administrator from? Assuming that person is not in your contacts, the phone number would have shown up, so you should have known it was an out of state number.

Second, as far as the website is concerned, being outside of the site and having no access to the server itself, how could you determine that it looked like a brute force DOS attack on the site? How could you tell the difference between a brute force DOS attack and a simple network outtage for the service provider?

Third, David says that you alluded that the police perpetrated some form of DOS attack on the site to get the data they needed to impound the car. That makes no sense because if they did it that way, it would be illegal search and seizure technically. Granted, the use of the information they obtained from the site by a simple search is obtained legally, but data obtained by crashing the site and 'hacking' it is obtained illegally and could not be used in court. They would have to get a court order and present it to myself or the hosting company in order to get any information they need, at which time I would have to comply. If a court order had been issued and presented to the hosting company, I'm sure I would have been notified. There is no way that the police department is going to use a DOS attack and shut a site down to try and get information. If the server is down, they can't get the information they want. So that part of the story makes no sense.

Lastly, I don't really care who paid for your car. It doesn't matter to me if your dad paid for it or you did. Although, I personally think it means more to you when you earn it your self, but that's just my opinion. So I'm not gonna beat you up about who paid for the car or the mods.

EDIT: I have spoken at length with the hosting provider and have looked at the server logs. It was a company-wide network outtage. The hosting company had their entire network go down. All of their servers, which includes all 19 of my sites, plus my day job's dedicated server, went down yesterday. Their VOIP phone system was down for most of the day. We were actually lucky here in that we were only down for just a few hours.

I stated to David that police had obtained certain information before the thread was moved (Last name) for one, about me. The thread that was posted about the Mustang clearly had some sort of evidence in itself to raise suspicion BEFORE it was moved to "Mexico". Being that this information is not hideable to a guest or anyone previous to it being moved there I assume thats where grounds for the police calling me came from. Cause there is no doubt in my mind that these forums are being monitored. How in depth, I really don't know. I've recently talked to my lawyer, and the court order has been expunged on grounds for no physical or video proof of a "Speed Contest" or any sort of gambling being involved.

Also, don't lecture me on something network based when you where pissing in the wind and had no clue what was going on, and I have texts to prove it. All three of us made the same assumption so you look like just as much of a retard as I do.

As far as this forum is concerned, believe me, I wont be posting on here anymore, come up with some cheeky smartass remark, do whatever you like. But I assure you that I wouldn't WASTE MY TIME, let alone others if I wasn't worried about everyone's vehicle's and safety. And as far as identifying a DoS attack, piggyback on a russian proxy and you get more then a 404 error when trying to access a website. Hence "Connection was reset".. Not to mention it's not hard to inject a packet sniffer through SQL to figure out whats going on on a limping server.
