WANTED: 4th gen f-body front seats and center console

after seeing a Nova at Hendricks this weekend, dad is wanting to put some 4th gen camaro seats and center console in the nova. anyone have anything? black leather prefered, but if that can't be had, he would probably just have them recovered to match the pattern on the rear stock seats. also, the center console looked like a pretty easy drop in, and looks nice as well.


heres how they look, the pattern isnt my cup of tea, but the seats look pretty good and they feel a TON better than the stock ones. he has been looking at thicker seats from Acuras, but these look like an easier drop in.

I got a buddy in Nashville with a set of Tan leather front seats from a Camaro. there's a tear on one. Could probably get a good deal on them since you will want to get them recovered.

I could probably get them and meet you somewhere with them.

i already checked with ryan, they are sold. i think he is looking for something closeby. i mentioned hawks to him, but from spartanburg where he is every day, thats a pretty long haul. thought i would check more local to spartanburg first.

on top of that its a vert which means top down the seats will be higher than the car and idk may be its just me but the buckets and console that were factory those yea were bad ass!

+1. Maybe if it was a hardtop but not a vert. Convertible f bodies pull it off because the car is so deep, the top of the door is to your shoulders. 62 Nova on the other hand is going to look like a toy car with 2 lazyboys in it with f body seats.

Plus the seats are definitely not comfortable at all. Not sure what stock was or whats in it now, but I'm almost positive it would be a downgrade in several ways.

have you ever sat in factory bucket seats in a 62 nova? they are aweful....you slide all around, and the fact that they postion the seats where your eye level is looking almost straight through it. its not ruining it.....heck, its far from a factory #s matching correct car, so it doesnt really matter lol. the nova we saw this weekend....the fbody seats in it didnt look too bad.

hes not DEAD set on these seats either....may go with a shorter wider leather seat from an acura or honda. finding these seats were the first option tho since we know so many people with 4th gens

factory seats look ok and fit the car....but thats it. you slide around in them when the car turns, they are too bouncy, and like i said they are positioned in the worse possible height. you pull up to a redlight and you either hafta duck down to see the light, or sit up high and loook over the windshield....just oneof those annoying things.

Dad finally purchased some seats for the Nova today. Ended up going down to Hawks and got some Charcoal Trans Am seats and full center console with shift boot for $300. Can't beat that! Bruce went out of his way on his day off, and dug throught he shop to find what we needed. Big thanks! Good price and even better customer service!

We're gonna remove the headrests from the seats, and have them recovered along with the in a black and grey two-toned pattern. Pics to come when all is said and done!

It may be a little while before pics. We've got all the deats out of the car now, and are messing with the frames/mounting points on the front seats to get them to fit in this floor. Hafta trim the console to fit as well. After we get everything to fit, epaint the console, and ecover the seats, I'll snap some!

BTW....anyone needing some mint condition 62 Nova buckets? Basically brand new.....just covered when he bought the car.

Again, stock seats ride like crap....they look good but they are no fun to be in. It's not a numbers matching SS-car lol. All this stuff will make it a lot more enjoyable to drive around.

black covers. seats slide on the tracks just fine too. these fold up and over to the middle so its easy in and out.

UPDATE.

After looking at the T/A seats and figuring everything out, it was gonna be real tough to modify the mounting points. So....Dad ended up getting some seats from a MItsubishi for FREE. I think these look a lot better, and fit the car more. They sit lower, are wider, and aren;t "too modern" looking like the T/A seats. They are going to upholstery within the week to be done in black/grey vinyl that will match the door panels, and also the rears will match.

The center console also looks nice and at home in there. Spend only 2 hours getting it to fit, painted it, and looks nice now. Here some rough pics....seats are just resting there lol.

Lol.....its going to the trim shop tonight. Yes the squares will be removed and you'll never know they were there. The whole cover will be removed. Do ya'll never go to car shows and see that many of the cars have seats that are out of random late model cars? Non of the hot rods have original seats....half the muscle cars don't either. You just don't notice it because they are covered to match the car and they fit in. It will look good when it's done, it just takes an open mind and some creativity to vision it. And yes the rear seats will match it just fine. They are both being covered in the same pattern and same colors to match the car.

Josh...he wants $400 for the front seats. New covers alone are $279.

UPDATE.

Picked the seats back up tonight and sat them in the car to get a quick look. Camera was being funny and didn't snap good shots, but the grey insert matches the sterring wheel perfectly. I'm hapy with how they turned out.....and for $400 too! Once these sit in the sun and are exposed to some heat (whenever that may be) the slight wrinlkles will flatten out and the foam will be shaped perfectly.

Thanks people! This is what I was trying to tell people all along, but I guess it takes a little creativity to picture it. But they came out exactly as I pictured it in my mind. We haven't made our minds up about the door panels yet. They still have the stock pattern on them that matched the stock seats. To me, it doesn't match just because I know they are different and it bugs me, but I guess to the average person just looking at the car, it looks ok. If anyone needs interior work done, I can give you this guy's name and number. Obviously his prices are great and he does good work....all in a tiny building behind his house at night. He also did Charlie's seats and they look ncie as well.

How do ya'll feel about the grey color in the center? I think its a good nuetral color that matches the wheels and steering wheel, and blends good with the Galaxy grey and black.

Trans Am seats.....we still have them, he would sell them. The stock seats and rear seat covers....still have that too, for sale.

I think he is done with this car now. Unless I can talk him putting an LS1 in it....which I'm 90% sure would not happen. It really needs to be cut and buffed though, so maybe that is next. It will at least get a nice detail before show season. The color really hides the flaws, but when they light hits it right, you can see sanding marks, and a real hazy clear where they didn't polish it correctly.
