well been trying to get the camaro tuned last month cant seem to get it tuned, looks like problem reading obd1 with obd2 port, she will be on the dyno today hoping for good results and #s.

he couldnt log into my pcm bc i have a obd1 with obd2, wasnt anything on his part think something with my port. i hope mark can data log it.

be around 320-330 probably and there is no VIN license to purchase so that knocks $100 off the overhead cost compared to the LSx where he has to purchase the VIN.

Glad Mark is able to help the LT1 out and an incredible price.

Ok just picked her up wasn't to happy with the results, I would have hit 335 hp but kept falling on its face, looks to be the val springs, so ill be shopping 4 better ones tonite, these are garbage. But the dyno did show me that I wasn't done with the bugs so I'm still not 100% but she got 40 hp with the tune.

I work in Wellford off of Hwy 29 in the old Sybron/Lanxess Chemical plant. Most of the work I do consists of controls and automation. I usually work with a Chemical Engineer who tells me what he wants a process to do, and I spec out all of the controls, do the programming, tie it into any existing network, and then help start-up the process.

Except for the last few weeks where I was brought into a job that had no prior planning except for the "seat of the pants" kind. That is when it's a pain. The people I'm working with don't have a clear idea of what they really want, and a lot of the stuff they have me doing is trial and error. But they are customers, and you have to do what you have to do.

no kiddin'? moms worked there several years ago in the "lab" i think... i think she took samples of chemicals and figured out what needed to be added to them to adjust the final result. -or something like that.
sounds like the mngmt has not changed much in terms of flying by the seat of their pants.

does it drop like a rock at 4500? thats pretty low to be floating the valves..... whats the specs on the cam/springs and were the heads worked on any? stock valves?

Those edl springs should not have been used on that cam.
if you can get the 918s and locks/retainers/seats that is what I would go with, if you want to purchase new they can be sent to you for $330.

i plan on taking my time on it, and its a long weekend so be a good time to do them. if it doesnt work out then i aint really in a rush. im just glad the car is tuned

From what I heard is Crane filled Bankruptcy. Rob from AI told me they even having alot of trouble finding Cores for there cams do to the low supply of cams sence they use Crane Cam Cores. There are still companys out there that have a few springs in stock.

i just found a dealer that is selling Crane springs im lookin for, for 166.00 comes with everything looks to limited only has one set left. waiting on bj b4 i buy em.

I bought my cam in June and took about 1.5 weeks to get it. I'm sure they use Bullet cams but they buy the cores from different vendors and crane cams was one of there big ones he told me.

IDK i didn't use any tool to set mine and I set it w/ the intake off so it was easy cause I could visualy see the lifters that were at the bottom and work on those.

No I made 275 at 4000 then falls, chart shows it looks like at 6000 would have hit 335 around that.

oooh ok i was thinking you were going to make some pretty crazy power once you could turn it 6k+ if you were already making 340 by 4500.... but that explains it.

Thanks to bj got new springs, spent 10 hrs changing them car results still the same. With changing the springs still no power after 4500 rpm

I don't have the graph, I wouldn't say I blame it on the tune, just trying to figure out why a cam lt1 is making a little more then a stock lt1. On the chart shows the car making 275 at 4500 rpm then falls on her face after 4500 she's making 189 hp. Mark said that the val springs were weak. But I just put in the right val springs problem is still the same not pulling after 4500 rpm.

how did they tune the car after 4500? Im not saying thats the problem but if the car was messing up before how would he have know what it needed after 4500. Like Bags said, the graph would probably help show some of the problem.

you were driving before you dropped it off for the tune right ? .. was it dropping in power after 4500 before it was tuned ? as i recall you said it pulled pretty good but did need a tune ... three things i can think of that that would cause you to not get fuel ... pump , computer ( tune ) or filter ... not saying it's tune ... was the cam degreed properly ? is the " timing " off in some way maybe ? just throwning some things out there ...

As said though,graph tell bit. My logic would be this though.. Car was tuned around found issues. Even by correcting issues, pcm still programmed around previous handicap. I mean pcms can relearn so much its said. But springs pretty far from a "electrical" part,not exactly sensors in that area for it pcm attempt correct issue.

Just a thought tho. Hope you get it straight man

Did you ever nail down what caused those issues before tune? Whole trying to bog down at stop? You having cut it off then back on,on highway? Did it still smoke on throttle after this tune?

Everything was fixed b4 I took it to him, other then val springd which were fixed yesterday. And no its popping. Shots a small flame sounds like timing

I do not want to step on toes here but if the car was falling on its face at 4500 then mark shut it down and did not more tuning after that, and that is the right way to do it.
It needs to go back to Mark and let him finish and if the springs did not fix it then there are other problems....obviously.
And I am not sure WTH is up with that car but from what I was told it was over 20% lean from when Mark got it, that is ALOT so my guess is that it is still way OFF above the 4500 mark...

Right, the car is still lean, and doesn't seem to be getting fuel up top. I'm not saying anything bad about his tune I'm just worried it could be something else he said after the valve springs were on I should make good power but results are same that's why I was worried it could be something else. I'm going to drop it off again. This week.
