well shit, i havent got the "express" my opinion on this since my thread got closed. So ill throw my .02 cents in..
There is NO need to change ANYTHING. Who gives a flipping shit who's President. When someone hears about a show, they post up. Who ever wants to race, they post up. Who ever wants to go see a movie and hang out, they post up. So does being a "President" decide who shows up/posts up what? BUMP NO, all this shit is stupid and who ever is argueing about this crap needs to be slapped in the face with my wang.
Now as for the name, this has been UFB since day 1 and will remain UFB. People have come to this site knowing it as UFB. IF whoever wants be in a club with a different name, i suggest start another club b/c i for one am rocking UFB (as the co-founder). Sorry if i stepped on someones toes but enough is enough..

jon, go read all he stuff man. long story short, we have never been a real car club. we are wanting to start something more serious and turn it into something tangible. we've always just been a name with stickers on our cars, and thats it. we all hang out together, and feel that something more broad that invited all late model muscle cars would be beneficial to everyone. we're talkin paying SMALL dues that would go to make t-shirts, put on events, raise money for different causes, etc. just like all the "real" clubs around here do. Crossflags Corvette Club, Confederate Classic Street Rod Assoc., Carolina Classic Car Club, Foothills Mustang Club....trying to get on a level like that. i know it prob sounds like a bad idea to you at first since its always been UFB, but just think about it and consider the good things we could do if we have things organized and can create somethin bigger an better than what we have called the UFB. PM me if ya want, but lets get it back on topic here.

Umm, Actually I kinda like Carolina Speed Cult too.
If you went for CHO, we would discuss the details on that other crap. I don't see any need to be controlling on what you guys do as a club. I just want to limit the exposure to legal action for Mike and I, that's all. And for the sake of correctness, the name has spaces in it, in case anyone is real hip on out name.
Let me weigh in on this WHOLE situation here...
First:
Club Hi Octane, www.clubhioctane.com (http://www.clubhioctane.com) the web site, was started by Mike and I originally as an all-make, all-make/all-model forum with tech discussion. We also had intensions (and it is still in the works) of building a personals area for car people to meet one another and hook up (The Hi-Octane Hookup).
We welcome car clubs, such as UFB, SLM, Domestic Disturbance, UCDP (a small club I stared in my own home area that died after I moved it to CHO), and MHRC to the site and offer them a forum on the site so they can have a 'home' section on the site to call their own. However, we hoped that they would use the site as a whole for most of their traffic and use that 'home' section for their club business, like what to do with member dues and such as that.
You guys did differently that we had hoped, you did basically all your posting in your 'home' forum, but that was ok.
So there's the background on the site...
Now, the UFB from an outsider (WAY outsider) point of view...
UFB is the name attached to the group of guys that started gathering way back whenever. They had the same goal in mind, they had the same passion, and all had something in common. They had the F-bodies, so they started a club.
From what I've seen on the site, the club has worked. But then I only see the electronic side of the club. You had your meetings on your regular days, and such.
As time moved on, more people joined the site and I think that the line between the site and the club kinda got blurred because the site had the name Club in it and such. Some of you even said yourselves that you were being referred to as the CHO guys.
In the beginning you (the UFB) had officers, and now that David has too much on his plate to remain a club officer, he's decided to step down. So you have the discussion about who to step up in his place. I think it really should be a simple decision to be honest. It shouldn't require a lot of drama and fighting or arguing about starting new clubs or anything like that.
Kyle came to me when David mentioned that he wanted to step down and said that he had a couple of ideas, and asked about using the CHO name for the club and asked for my input. So we discussed it. So before any of this stuff got good and started going downhill, I had discussed the name change with Kyle and had talked about the street-racing issue with him. If I gave him the impression about needing to control other club things if you used the name, that wasn't my impression. We might want to discuss things, but I don't see much needing to be discussed, it's mainly just enough to keep our (Mike and I) butts out of the legal fire and the site from being drug through the mud.
Back to the issue at hand... Who to lead, and if you should change the name...
Let me use my local F-body club as an example... They started as a small club of just a few guys back in 2002 and grew to 41 or so at their largest. They eventually started charging $20 a year for dues to 'weed out' undesireables, as well as require a member of the club to recommend them prior to allowing them in. A year later, when membership dropped, they dropped dues to $15 and allowed anyone that wanted in to be a member.
They used the money to rent a track for a day. It was an 1/8 mile, and we had a full BBQ meal and everything. It was a great day. Only about 1/2 the club showed, but it was awesome. Everyone got a ton of runs.
The club came close to sponsoring and working a car show for MDA, and each year I think they do an Angel Tree if memory serves.
Now dues are $5 per member, and they are saving to rent a track again, or some other charity work.
I mention the dues because someone said they were against dues. If you guys went to a dues system, it could do some good. You could use it to rent a track for a day. Run a bash at the track, do drag racing plus autocross or something.
The site is here for you either way, we're not going to turn our back on you because of the changes you're dealing with. I think that what you're going through is normal, as the club here in TN went through it all too. Every bit of it. They discussed making it all make all model, changing the name, new officers, who's in charge, etc.
The local club I talk about now has one officer, a treasurer who handles the funds. And we used to do a quarterly newsletter (print) that got mailed to all current members and everything.
Maybe I'm just rambling, but you guys will work through it, just don't create a bunch of animosity amongst yourselves over it, please.

jon, go read all he stuff man. long story short, we have never been a real car club....we've always just been a name with stickers on our cars, and thats it...
What more does it take to really make a car club though?
I honestly thought it was just a group of people with some cars and some stickers that considered themselves a club?
I mean in Denver, Co if three or more people are seen hanging out together they can be considered a gang, so it depends on your interpretation of the term club as to what really makes it a car club, right?

greast post lee, that sums it all up. so if it were Club Hi Octane, it would have to be all make/all model? I believe the biggest reason for change is the fact that so many people with different cars hang with us now. it almost seems clique-ish to be UFB now, since so many of us have vetes, gtos, stangs, etc and many of us have grown to be good friends. many just thought it would be a good thing to create something that we could all call our on, that we all could be a part of, and just something that would include everyone we already hang with. with the growth in numbers, we could financially create something that could be known in the area, and do good for the community by hosting things like shows, cruise-ins, etc that could benefit causes. i think we are all about helping others out, and what better way to do it than with a hobby we are all passionate about. this isnt all about rasing money for stuff, its just the one aspect off the top of my head of many that would be a positive for such changes.

Club Hi Octane the site is all-make, all-model.
If you as a club are not, that is on you. This is MY opinion, and I would have to confer with Mike to get his opinion on it.
As far as I am concerned, as long as you guys don't do anything that exposes us legally, or drags the site through the mud, I don't see any real reason why we would need to say too much about how you guys govern yourselves. It would be nice to have things bounced off us once in a while I guess just to be sure, but off-hand I don't see any problems at this very instant.
Again, this is just MY opinion and I'd have to confer with Mike about it to get his opinion.
As for the street racing posts, Mike and I discussed a private forum where only those that truly wanted access would get it (or those that knew those that would want access like the club officers could recommend people). That forum would therefore be hidden from view from the public and you'd have a place to discuss that stuff.

I think all make / model would be good for your membership but that is just my opinion. You could do a lot of stuff with tons of members and it seems y'all take your cars seriously in SC . Whatever you folks decide , Lee and I got your backs on this.

Me too. Carolina Speed Creed is good.
So what is gonna be the cut off though? You say we don't like rice, which is true. But, if we do all make/model, that means they would be welcome. If we do just muscle, say, f-body, corvette, gto, and stangs.
If it has to be american muscle for someone to join, are we gonna let in older cars too? I know there are plenty of novas, chevelles, all kinds of things like that around here too.
Are we just gonna have rules for what is allowed so we don't have to put it in the name? That would make the most sense to me.

I'm not all about "creed". Thats not really a group of people like a cult is. Creed is more like a poem. And we aren't a car poem.
LWillmann
06-11-2009, 12:17 PM
But Cult seems to indicate a group of loonies, and although some of you guys seem that way at times, most of you seem to be real down to earth people.
Ms. Enforcer
06-11-2009, 12:24 PM
Creed also means having a same belief, idea, or religion...if everyone is into american muscle..it can be considered a creed...i went to Thesaurus.com and typed in Cult (to find synonyms since some didn't like the idea of a Cult)..and Creed was a word that came up to replace Cult...
I personally like Nemisis' idea of SpeedCult I think it's catchy, SpeedCreed for those who don't like Cult, and some of Jay's ideas were great ones as well. I think take a couple of Jays and the other two and set up a poll to get this ball rolling.

is everyone in favor of having the carolina, upstate, piedmont, etc. in the club name? or do ya wanna leave location stuff out? we definately need to come up with about 7 names and make a poll. take top 2 and have a final poll just to make sure the right one is chosen

It's too bad that musclemilitia.com is taken.
Tell you guys what...
You get a final club name and I'll do something for you...
I'll make you an offer you can't refuse...
You go out and get you a domain that matches your club name, and get your club logo together, and I'll work up a skin for your club with your logo in it that says 'your club name here - hosted by Club Hi Octane' or something like that. And we'll park your domain on my server and you guys can use YOUR domain to come to the site.
I can even point your domain name to that specific skin if need be.
You guys have generated a lot of traffic and been good to us here, so maybe we can work together to help you out with a new club name?

+1. Your car really impresses me, and it's just keeps going faster!
After everything is done with the trans and diff on my car, I plan to show up and see what happens. Even Gary said that I could bolt up his wheels for a pass.
Hope to meet you up there and get some advise and pointers. I don't have no where near the experience that you have, but I'm not afraid to rev the shit out of it and let it go.
Not sure as to what will happen, but I would hope that the stuff going in will hold. If it doesn't, I wouldn't have any clue as to what to do as I tried to research as best as I could. I didn't go the most expensive route, but settled for more in the "middle of the road". But then again,my car isn't making the power that would warrant some of the high dollar stuff I was quoted in my opinion.

From what I have been reading, it seems like SS will be the best bet for me...unless Union preps their track real good. They are about the same distance from me either way.
Also, from what I have read, the 3:90's I have going in will be more similar to a 4:10 with the lower ratio of the M12 transmission for the first 3 gears over the M6 I currently have.

I don't know if you are traveling in by plane or what, but SS is definitely more than 25 min away from my house. Back roads are a little faster, but interstate is 45 minutes and thats traveling 80mph the whole way. I've clocked it a few times. Its 35 min at least.
Either way, when I get the chance I want to be at a track that people think is prepped good. I have never really heard anything good about Greer's prep.

I have never had any luck at SS with any of my four cars. with same mods and similar temps even. It dont hook for me that well there. Ran consistent 8.3's-8.4s in the bolt on formy at greer and then anywhere from 8.5-8.7 at SS. My old catback only 95 gt ran 9.6-9.7s at greer, and 9.8s at SS.

From the calculators I have seen..that equals ~6.3 in the 1/8. Odd though as I thought it would be faster than that. But every program that I punched the numbers into came out about the same.

When I was a senior in high school and a freshman in College, I might have missed 5 or 6 Thursdays in a couple years.
If you can make it in 25 minutes from my house, i'll pay your way in next time. Thats keeping it under 75 on the highway too.
