Right now, I have to piece together a few more parts before it will be ready to drop in. I guess tenative plans, are trying to install it in 2 months. That will give me more time to unload parts from the old car and purchase more to finalize this engine. I didn't take any pics of the D1SC, but its resting comfortably for now, waiting to DO WORK! :wrenchbanana:

Anyone need a LS1?

MrDavid

Engine came from Indiana. Some guy had it built with the intentions of putting an APS twin turbo kit on it, but never did. He sold the kit first, and now the engine. I think he told me he bought a LSX twin turbo already assembled and dyno-tuned so he had no use for this engine any more.

UPDATE
Things actually got underway this morning. I took the car to the Above Ground/Under House Garage and we started yanking the preliminary parts out getting ready to drop the K-member and take the old, tired LS1 out.

Me and Chris Davis took out most everything needed to drop the engine while Chris G. worked on the taillights for the Z06. I have most of the parts I need now thanks to a speedy shipment from Herron Performance earlier this week. Just a few more goodies: BOV, -6 fuel line, ABS blockoff, and i'm sure some other needs will arise soon.

Not going to put this one on a rush by any means, but i'm hoping it is done by my birthday which is July 6th. "Done" meaning: engine and charger installed and running with no issues and new Stage II T-56 from Tick Performance installed too. If Diggler still has the 12-bolt in a couple of months I hope to buy it, change the 4.30's for maybe 3.73's and put it out back of the Mecham.

Just a simple wire mod, hood latch cable mod, and then sand and shoot will be enough to please me. Think we can get it knocked out in a couple hours one night soon? The motor is now out of the car BTW.

Another little update:

Car went to JR Racing last week for a full dyno tune. Charles and Matt worked a little magic, found a couple of issues, but still finished up.

Pulley alignment was a little off with the idler, throttle body wasn't opening to 100%, and belt slip started happening after some of the belt was eaten away from pulley alignment being off. Despite these issues, the car made a max of about 6lbs of boost and hit 520hp. I'm going to spend the next month correcting these problems, adding a TICK master cylinder, and then take it back to JR's again (possibly with a new pulley).

The potential is definitely there. Its just going to take some more $$ and time to unlock it.

I would also like to thank Chris G and BJ for all of the help you guys have offered the past year. This car would still be a 300hp piece of crap without yall. Also like to thank Matt and Charles for the tune and advice. Car drives with a close to stock feeling. Amazing.
