Actually this project is teetering. I found a 99 Z28 Dark Blue with a broke rod for cheap and may sell this V6 Camaro. I will sell it for $999 bucks. Its a 98 V6 Camaro with 164,000 miles on it and still drives. I have had it for 6 years now. Never had any problems with it. I now have my Jeep, Civic, 56 Cadillac and Nemesis and no longer need it one way or the other. Im still planning to gut this Camaro or another to have a Drag only Car. So if anyone wants it for $999 bucks they can have it.

That sounds like a deal AUTO? why hell sell it over the civette jw, gas mileage?
NEMESISVETTE
04-07-2009, 06:58 PM
Ya Auto. The Civic is pimp with its 40mpg :nerd: Well the Camaro drives fine but it does have its own issues. I hit a dear last year with it and the windshield has crack and hood got messed up too, thats why I was going to turn it into a drag car. Bust windows out and replace with plexian. Pull motor ect. Really just gut the thing back to just fram and bla bla bla you get the idea. However $999 bucks is cheap for a 98 camaro that runs.

So I assume thats a yes?
not trying to nit pick but unless i was to use it as somewhat of a parts car for the 97 then it has no more value to me then a good 4 cylinder DD would.
how are the T-tops do they leak hows the interior what the paint look like. I don't expect it to be a show car just looking for details.

Lot of the guys on this site have seen me drive it. LOL no secret. It used to be my DD till I got the Jeep and now the Civic too. Not sure what to do with it though. Sell or build it or buy 99 Z28 and build it.

99 would be a better starting point, but then again if your going to do some serious modifications, you wont use the LS1 or 4l60E anyhow.

Exactly which is why it dont matter if I sell the Camaro or keep it. This will be a long project. Spring 2011.

:blah blah::blah blah:
I didn't say NOW. Still in college. but once that engineering salary kicks in I'll have some play money. Especially being a bachelor.
Oh, and I can deal with the 4x4 look for a little while longer. I'd rather spend my money making it go fast. and before you rebuttal and say shift lights dont make you faster, I know that, but they do help with consistency.

I had a prokit f/s until about 4 days ago. You could have picked it up cheap too. About what you're paying for that shift light :)

wish I had known. aside from the springs tho, what else would I need? I assume shocks at the minimum?

Yeah, you at least need shocks so your ride isn't terrible.

You really don't "need" anything but just the springs, and a spring compressor to install them. I used my old shocks. But now that I have been there and done that, I would recommend new shocks unless your stockers only have a few thousand miles on them.

And IMO, it's a lot easier to just buy new upper shock mount stuff for the fronts too, that way you can put the fronts together and make the whole thing a plug and play affair. That's what I did when I put in my QA1's. That way I had my stockers to look at for proper orientation on the upper mounts.
And anti-seize is your friend on that job!

you dont "need shocks"....heck it isnt even somethin that should be done unless you have the money. ive been on stock shocks an lowered for 3 years now, its fine. doesnt ride terrible or anything.

Heres what I don't understand about shocks. I have drag shocks, just cheap adjustable, but they ride a ton better than my stockers. Are the stock ones just that bad? I thought the ride would be worse and stiffer but it is a lot softer and nicer ride.

I would have been handed down a '56 olds rocket 88 that was originally won by my great grandmother in a Grocery store contest. She didn't drive much anymore so it had super low miles when my dad got it. Long story short, it was parted off along with a friends 69 camaro who originally recomended the shop to my dad. The shop owner then dropped off the face of the planet:mad:
