I went with a buddy out to his girlfriends dads place today and sitting beside his garage is a 1978 Olds Cutlass 2 door. I have a soft spot for A/G bodies so I checked it out closer. The interior is almost mint and the body while covered in surface rust (car used to be silver and paint literally wore/fell off) is perfectly straight with the exception of one very small ding on the roof. The rear bumper is rotten (common on these cars) and it needs a timing chain to bring the old 3.8 back to life. The best part is they only want $250 for the car. I have always wanted to learn to paint a car and it looks like I might be getting the chance. Now I just need my last W2 so I can file my taxes and get me a new project/daily driver.

Sounds like fun I had an 83 regal with the 3.8 in it. Its a good motor but a complete dog. No power what so ever and took an hour to whined up.

I figure it shoudl get me around while I save $$ to put something better in there. I have had several G bodies and all but one had the 3.8 and it had the 260 V8 which used gas like a V8 and was as slow or slower than the six.

doesn't have to be fast to be cool. a little paint and it could be a nice car

I want it to be fast but I am not in a rush to get it there. I want to have a different daily before I go transplanting any motors in it. I want my next toy car to be something the whole family can enjoy when it is done and this one definatley qualifies for that.

aahhh the age old family juggle. The 6-71 I built for one of my buddies a few years ago started out to go in his prostreet TA but ended up in his 95 ex-cab because of that....also the reason I have the Burb and trailer lol
Glad to see ya got a project lined up.... life really seems to suck without one

I have a project always. It just isn't my car it is my father inlaws 81 vette. It is my current daily while he is three hours away in TN until july. If he only had some money to spend on it I could have had it fixed up really nice for him by now but his wife holds the purse strings waaay too tight.
