I finally felt the need to take of my tb and take some pics of it.

Did this myself, im very pleased with how it turned out, and the throttle gains suprised, i didnt think it would help as much as it did.

But i did the math, and if you know anything about LS1 tb you know taht the throttle blade is 75mm across, but right in front of it there is a lip that makes a bottle neck, this opening is 70 mm across. sooo i did some math

all of this is calculater for WOT

area of a circle PIExRadius^squared

3.141592 X 35(radius of bottleneck)^2 = 3848.45 sqMM
3.141592 x 37.5(radius of blade)^2 = 4417.86 sqMM

also with cutting out the half shaft thats minus an extra (75mm wide x 5mm tall) 375sqMM

since both areas have the blade profile and the bottom of the throttle shaft, were not going to factor that, because we have enought numbers

so therefore before porting- 3473 sqMM
without the bottleneck- 4418 sqMM

the difference is 945 sqMM!!!!!!!

WTF was GM thinking?

but i suck at math so this may be wrong

oh yeah the pics, they are huge, so here is one and a link to the rest

hells yeah, i was suprised how much it made a difference, really woke my stock car up. stomp my automatic anywhere under 35 and the tires will break loose

Now all you have left to do is fill and drill it. :D

i cant afford the down time, i use my car every day, that would be nice though. i was thinking of putting piping in there, and filling the rest with JBweld, so i could polish everything

That's what I did with mine and it turned out really nicely. :D

filling that area won't help you with the power oddly enough. Bo White has done dyno testing on that exact subject for his own information before he offered the tb's.

my car felt just the same after i repalced the ported/filled tb with a ported/non-filled one, just an fyi.

i realize the arguement can be made for smoothing out airflow and such, and to an extent i agree - but the gains aren't there for the time it can take including down time.

Cyphur is correct. I have done lots of testing on the filled/non filled and gains are simply not there. I think thats one of the reasons Bo and I sell our TBs for the prices we do. :)
