Yesterday Me, Jon, and BJ headed out to try and snap a few photos of BJ's car for some practice with my new Nikon. These are the ones that Jon and I thought came out the best. He has slightly doctored them up in photoshop a little to remove some glare, and monochrome some.

Be nice, it was my first attempt ever!

hey bj if you want, have jon make a photo shop pic like the one i had at my house and i can send it to my sisters husband. he can make you one the same size as mine. i think it only like 25-30 bucks too. just a thought

tweaked some colors and did some lightroom magic to it... pulled some yellow out of the highlights on the wall, made the wheels come in brighter, tried to pull some of the blue out of the windows but that didnt work to well.

lol aaaand the requests start piling up! we've got two guys with nice camera equipment now so i group shot shouldnt be too hard...just getting everythone together would be tough. its prob gonna be way easier just to get a generic background and photoshop all the cars onto it. theres always gonna be 2-3 people that dont make the shoot that are gonna be alll upset about it

not bad for a first attempt at all david but hold off on the saturation and try to keep the iso lower. also keep the wheels in mind when shooting a bright car with dark wheels, its a balancing act man..

im gonna be a PITA and re-edit a picture...

I tried to go a little lower on the ISO with some shots, but it was getting dark fast so I then tried to pull in as much light as I could while also trying not to get a grainy pic.

Criticizim is also welcome, just as compliments. Thanks.

EXIF data shows you were at 1/30th of a sec and f/5.6 at 50mm and iso200 on one of the rolling shots but i see a ton of noise even at that small of an image...

is the d60 that noisy?

I have read about noise, but couldn't tell you exactly what it is. I set the shutter a little slower just to make the background a little more blurred. I don't remember having the ISO set to 200. I thought I stayed above 400 for most all of the shots.

I took two pics on Auto mode out of all of them, and they turned out to be the most plain. I didn't even upload them.

today's sunset = 5:55

so prime time for shooting is approx 53 minutes before sunset. taking note of that...

and yep, the 1 - 1 1/2hrs before sunset are the best... usually about 20-30 before its officially sunset by the weather channel or whoever is when you get screwed on light... sun goes behind the trees or buildings so you dont have the nice warm light directly on everything anymore.

No one called wanting a shoot today. Plus, I had plans this afternoon. Went to see "Taken" and it was great BTW.

I'm working tomorrow from 6-10 or 11. If things look good and someone has a clean car, I might try to shoot some more. I've got a couple ideas that I think would make a cool shot. And I think one of them is actually an original (ehh, probably not).

yea i got most of the spots out. The back window hasnt ben treated yet but im gona get some more buffin done before any shows. ive got new wheels and mirrors and its lowered now so i need some pics to replace the signature pic.

Some one should come over here to Six Mile to the dike at keowee on the way to Seneca, HWY 130, and get the sunset over the lake. It is a sight that I enjoy when coming home from work.....nearly every day. it's really nice.

I got acid to take that shit off and the Wieman Cook Top cleaner works the best by far.

Got to get that brand. And don't use a Brillo pad, use 4 alt steel wool pads from lowes. Thats 0000, 4 zeros. Brillo pads will scratch the fuck out of glass. Put about the size of a half dollar on the pad and go to rubbing. When you've rubbed for a while and done the whole window, it rubs off like wax. Repeat as needed.

BTW, its like wax so don't get it on the window sweeps. Roll your windows down, and start at the back and the window sweeps are just clipped in. Plan on taking them out before doing this, or atleast taping them up.

Just read the section of the users manual that describes P,S,A, and M. Thats about all you need before you start practicing in full manual mode.

I'd like to enter one of these into the POTM contest on LS1tech. I know they aren't great, but thus far, they seem to be leap and bounds in front of the competition.
