Thanks to Jeff, I am scheduled to get my car on the dyno this Saturday. I'm really looking forward to see what the results are, and I will post the graph once I have it.......unless the numbers suck. :doh:

jr racing told my old man that they can put his GT up to 275-280 on a tune. his last dyno he was at 222 running rich. so i think its BS but we will see.

A few years back, I had a 2001 that made ~ 260 to the wheels with all the bolt-ons.

Getting close to 300 required a cam swap. But that was some time ago, and I haven't stayed up to date with things.

310 @ the flywheel is probably easily achievable with several bolt'ons in a 4.6 SOHC. It still sucks, but its do-able.

Credits for HP tuners are $100 for 2 and it takes 2 of them to tune a car. Then you have to pay the tuner for their time. "Touch up" tuning for moderate bolt'on cars, doesn't seem to take long, so you might be looking at $150-200. Jeff can tell you exactly how much $ it will cost.

That's true. I did everything but go into the engine on mine, and while it was fun to work on it, it still left me wanting more.

So I traded it in and got an 04 Cobra.:burnout: That was a fun car, and responded to any part you threw on it.

My 04 had a ported Eaton, 2.8 upper pulley, 4lb lower, and all the bolt-ons. I do miss the sound of that Eaton...it would scream.

We'll probably be trying to have another dyno day soon, in which case there will be some nice discounts! As of right now, it's $75 for 3 pulls.

If you car needs "touching up", I assume you mean some WOT A/F or timing tweaks? If so, it would be $150 if it can be done in an hour (that includes the dyno pulls).

cool ill keep my eye out for the dyno day. my car has a pretty decent tune in it now as in doesnt die at lights,buck ect but never had it on the rollers and im sure there is power left on the table still.

i dont consider it a "shell." a shell is a rolling chassis. cobra shell would be a cobra that had the motor, trans, etc stripped out of it.

I'm not quite sure. The guy who spec'd the cam had a C5 with the same mods as mine, and said slightly over 400hp while TQ was in the 380-390 range.

While higher numbers would be nice, I'm more concerned with the area "under the curve". That's what I asked for when I had the cam spec'd for me.

I wanted the TQ to come on as soon and hard as it could.

It's a GT shell with cobra shit all over it like I said before.
Coming off the assembly line as a Cobra and then stripping everything out of it would be a COBRA shell.

dude i told him it was a bad idea he spent 5k just this year making it look like a cobra, he bought it for 10k get where im going. he pretty much could have bought one. dude he spent 500 just on the air bag. thats crazy if it was me i would have bought a cobra motor put in the GT, i would have been a sleeper. but he said that he dont race all show. his radio all touch screen.

ya its all OEM stuff, i wouldn't call it a cobra shell its a cobra clone. people do whatever they want to there cars as long as it makes them happy. I plan on converting the front end on my camaro to the new 98-02 front end cause thats just what i like. i dont care what people think about that cause i like the LT1 engine better than the LS1 besides the opti.

With that said if it was a cobra "shell" frame whatever with cobra parts would that not make it a "cobra" not a clone?I thought "shells" go on outside i.e turtles.So wouldnt one be correct in calling a car that orig had a gt frame but switched exterior to cobra parts BE IN A COBRA SHELL? I really think it was a voltage issue . I replaced the battery since it kept dying on the dyno and put a new fuel filter in it and double checked all the wiring for the pump. I really think a stand alone is overkill for my car on a little 125 shot. I really just want to get my a/f on motor since it wasnt working when we did it then spray it once .I know it would fix it but i have seen a ton of cars making more with my same setup so it has to be something that isnt right.Im also calling synergy tom and asking some questions about the box they built for me .

I was looking forward to going but its been a shitty week wed racing a honda turbo looks like I broke the clutch going into third. So I won't have my car ready til tues. And I got called into work today 12 4 suckspost the numbers up

I forget to mention that the air was very good today, in fact the correction factor was less then 1 so everybody was making more power then the reading showed but was actually corrected DOWN!! So your 300 hp car was really making well over 300, that's how good the air was. I can attest to the fact that there are no dyno tricks used at JR racing and I believe Mike Brown's car is a perfect example of that.

mine put around the same numbers as last time just a few less on motor becouse of timing . I just went on there to see if the lean issue was fixed on spray which it wasnt LOL. Should have just listened to charles but just wanted to see if it was gonna be easy fix ...

It was great to finally meet everyone, and a great shop. All of you guys have very nice looking cars, and there were some "beasts" there that morning.

my car put down 371hp. it was a little less then i was hoping for but not real worried about numbers. jeff and charles were working hard to get me the most power out of the car but it seemed like no matter what they did the car made the same power every single time haha. big thanks to both of those guys for all the work they put into the tune.

its a 02 so it has the ls6 manifold. yeah i was hoping for more but i know the heads have got to be holding it back quite a bit.

its a 02 so it has the ls6 manifold. yeah i was hoping for more but i know the heads have got to be holding it back quite a bit.

you've got better heads than mine and i have a smaller cam ..hmmm , something else going on with the tune i'll bet ..those guy's are good .. they'll get it right with a little time

yeah i had jeff and charles working on it and the best they could get out of it was the 371. they only had it for a hour so im sure with some more time it will get better.

It was great to finally meet everyone, and a great shop. All of you guys have very nice looking cars, and there were some "beasts" there that morning.


My best pull was 410hp/388tq. I will post the graph as soon as Jeff gets the chance to send it to me.

Todd, just sent you a couple graphs to your email address. I'll let you post them if you want, or we can put them on the site when I get some pics of your car.

my car put down 371hp. it was a little less then i was hoping for but not real worried about numbers. jeff and charles were working hard to get me the most power out of the car but it seemed like no matter what they did the car made the same power every single time haha. big thanks to both of those guys for all the work they put into the tune.

That was very strange indeed. It was running on the rich side, but didn't pick up a thing when we changed the AFR to get it in line. Also changed the timing and the car didn't seem to care. I definitely think we could have gotten some more out of it perhaps in SD mode, but that would have taken more than the hour we were trying to work with! :D

MS3 car with <390rwhp, somethings wrong. Change plugs and wires, port throttle body, possibly look into a cutout and then a retune. Your car is being suffocated somewhere.

I was really happy with the outcome. Next to come will be a clutch and the 3:90's.

Eventually after that...Heads, Injectors, and a Fast setup.

i have a set of tr6 plugs in the car that are not very old at all and im sure i could use some wires but they havent shown any signs of problems. i have already ported the t-body and it has 3'' all the way back to a magnaflow muff so i dont think there is a lot of restriction there. im not sure why my car is down on the power that it should be making.

Run TR55's N/A. They are a little warmer, should burn a tad cleaner.

BTW, spend $65 from Texas Speed and get a set of MSD wires and TR55's. That price is shipped to the door.

Todd I think the dyno was a usful tool for you, now you know what parts are needed for you next project.

i had some tr 55 in it but switched out to the tr6 cause i do have juice that i was planning on spraying and just never have changed back out. ill prob swap back to the other plugs and get some wires for the car and see if that helps. but i guess what im wondering is that if i change the plugs and wires do u really think its goin pick that car up that much.
