Im not sure if I have a tuning problem, or if my tranny is on its way out. Ive been learning HPtuners with a friend of mine. Got a decent tune, but it was dying in reverse. We bumped the throttle cracker speed disable up to 15. Later took a test ride, and on the 1-2 shift it would bounce off the rev limiter, and on the 2-3 shift it would bounce 3 times then shift. WTF? I never touched my shift points or anything to do with the tranny, on that tune, just the throttle cracker. I think my shift points were at 6200, and the rev limiter at 6500. I was wondering maybe if the tranny is slipping at the high rpms or what is going on. I moved the rev limit to 6700, and the problem is fixed.

I am just a little leary of turning these revs. I snapped a few rod bolts in my 5.3 when I blew it, so I have the ARP's in this one, just dont feel like buying another motor............YET:)

Is it a stock tranny?
If so, that does sound like slippage. It slips too much and hit the rev limiter before shifting.
Some guys in the past would set their shift points lower (say 5700) and with the slippage it would actually shift around 6200.
Upping the rev limiter to fix a slipping tranny would not be that great of an idea in my opinion.
Might want to start saving up for a rebuild. :D

It was rebuilt a couple of months ago, I really didnt want to hear that, it doesnt feel like its slipping. I know upping the rev limiter isnt the way to fix it, just was trying this to see if it keeps happening. How many RPM need to be between the shift point and rev limit? Right now I have 500 RPM, it was 300.

How big of a stall are you running?
From what I have seen, it is almost a car per car basis.
Some guys run 300-500rpm difference but others with bigger stalls run more (500-800rpm).
Tuning shift points is not easy and takes a lot of trial and error.

Right now just a Trail Blazer stall. It stalls to about 2700, but it is a factory converter. The range your saying makes me feel better though, I think I was just too close before.
