The 3v Modular 4.6L v8 that's in the 05+ Mustang GT.

I'm curious about them.

What sorts of mods are out there for them, how well do they respond to mods, etc?

same shitty shortblock as every other mod motor.. pops after 450hp...

guys are making 300hp with the ford racing hotrod cams that dont even need new valve springs... id say they are comparable to the 4v motors on power... the heads flow pretty good but as always you really need boost to make power...

Are you talking RWHP or FWHP? I mean the engine is factory rated for 300 or 305HP or something, so I would hope that you're talking about wheel horsepower.

But if it pops after 450 RWHP, that equates to what, like 510-515 at the flywheel, which isn't so bad. It's an aluminum block too, right?

This is the block that got the nickname the XXX block because it splits, right?

I'm just wondering what a guy would have with one that had CAI, Headers, full exhaust, maybe a few other small goodies. I know very little about Ford vehicles.

XXX is a stock 5.0 roller block. It has that marked in the lifter valley. I think the modular blocks dont have the splitting problem, they just have weak rods/pistons.

my stock iron block is supposedly safe up to like 700hp... the teksid aluminum blocks, 96-98 cobra, are good for like 1100hp... modular blocks are BEASTLY...

too much timing will get you a busted ringland on a 2v, too much power makes bananas out of the rods on any modular motor up to a 03/04 or new GT500 or Ford GT.

full bolt-on 3v would probably yeild 300-315 at the tires, so basically it would run like a stock LS1 car. maybe better since most of them do 3.73 gears and more are starting to do the cams...

there was a guy who just changed the rear shock, did a cold air/tune and a 3.73 i think and it went like 12.4 on a tire.

Most make 285-315 with headers, cai and a tune to the wheels. These cars love the 4.10's With ported heads and cams it comes really close to 400rwhp.
