Ok I will take a crack at this. To start I have broken in 7 motors in the past 12mths and I have used the same technique to do so. Oil I always use to break in with is Valvoline VR1 racing oil cuz it has Zinc and Sulfate that helps piston rings find a home on cylinder walls. Good seal is the whole key to break in. Ok here are my steps I do everytime.
1) remove sparkplugs and disconnect coilpack harness.
2)remove fuel pump fuse.
3)bump motor my turning key to engage starter to prime oil threw oil galleys.
By taking plugs and fuel pump fuse out the motor spins freely and fuel is not washing cylinder walls while you priming the oil galleys.
4)Once oil is primed put plugs and fuse back and fire her up.HAVE AS MANY EARS TO LISTEN FOR ODD NOISES
5)leave coolant cap off and let all air work threw system while reving motor at variable RPM . When bubbles stop put cap back on (buddy outside car of course)
6) When engine is warm take it out for a 15min drive with variable rpm and variable loads. ( return to shop or were ever and leave the car to do a complete cool down.
7) I usually wait till next day so I know it cooled down completely . I start the car back up and let it warm up completely and take it for another drive with variable RPM and load.
8) Then I drop the oil threw a strainer and a magnet. All good .... Time to beat dat BEEEASH up LOL
I then change the oil again at 100 miles then ... well you get the idea I kinda over do it with the oil changes until 3000 miles . Spent 200 bucks just on oil for my first 3000 miles on mine LOL Im sure I missed a step I normally do but thats the gist of it. O and man I think this is the longest post I have ever made :D

It does look to be the longest you have yet. You def overdo it on oil Gary. $200? You need a hook-up at a parts store badly!

if you change the oil and see now powder on the drain plug, then id say you can be done with the oil spending for a while. just my .02..........everyone has their own on this subject, and like the page said its a touchy one.

i put castro oil conventional in mine, let it run until temp, then let it cool down, started it up and drove it 20 minutes. drained oil, put new castro oil in and went and beat on it. 500 miles later changed the oil, 500 later mobile 1 went in. i have great oil pressure. absolutely no blow bye. its all on the builder i believe. if the cylinder isnt perfectly round you have problems or the clearances are off it doesnt matter the brake in method, youll be like gary.....lol jk gary

fire it up, run it up to temp, change the oil.
take it to the dragstrip and spray it.

when i was about 17 or 18 ( before most on here were born ) a friend had a 351w rebuilt in his truck .. when we went to pick it up the guy that built it said " warm'er up , let'er cool , then run the piss out of'er " he did and never had any issues with it , using oil etc.
still going i think

I say go for it dave. I was going to try this out on will's car but he said no and I didn't pay for it so we went with what he said. Still broke it in decently hard though, as hard as the pathetic stock injectors let us.
