bad ball joints?

i think i may have a bad ball joint. when i drive my car and hit a bump or start to slow down you can hear a little clunking noise on the front driver side. someone says it sounds like a ball joint, what do you guys think?

Its possible, but if it is, its probably just loose. My car is 22 years old and has 130,000 miles and I just replaced the ball joints in mine and they had very little play.

ya look for loose bolts. my 97 mountaineer used to develop a noise similar to what you're describing and it was the shocks bolts loosening up i put locktite on them and it stopped.
