View Full Version : any of yall use an orbital?

im tired of waxing my 65 foot hood by hand, any of yall have experiance waxing with an orbital? whats a decent one to buy, and any tips on not burning up my paint?

Not real good at buffing but the guys at the shop I work at use Dewalts . You need to stay away from sharp corners or creased edges like fender ends or corners , you can burn through those real quick. I'd suggest getting an old door/fender/ hood from the junkyard and practice on it until you get comfortable with the buffer.

dewalt, millwalkee, any of the good name brand tools like that you should have a good experience with but make sure you get one with the option to change the speeds will help you out with not burning the paint

get a porter cable.....its tough enough for most jobs and is whats reccommended for the first time users like us. its what all the guy use on ls1ech and they all love it.

might scoop one up, my dad has a dewalt, but its just a buffer, and i dont know how to use it

buffer/polisher, theyre all the same pretty much just as long as theyll turn the same rpms...theyre used the same anyways. i think the portal cable is more forgiving than the others tho, like on corners and places where its easiest to burn through the paint.

i have a porter and it orbits ,so its way less forgiving

tim your buffer is prob the most forgiving of the hgiher end nice buffers, they say thats what the begginner should use when learnin how to buff paint.

picked it up at a show with a bunch of waxes cleaners etc. from victory , i think i paid about 170 for it . came with a couple of pads and all the other stuff...
