Block is gone. The scratches are too deep to clear up. So what are some options for too look at. Thinking of going with an iron block

If you haven't bought anything for your LS1 yet, then go ahead with the ironblock 370. You can get out there with a L92/L76 setup without spending an arm and a leg and make over 500whp with a large cam.

365= 4.0 bore stock stroke
370= 4.030 bore stock stroke

402=4.0 bore 4in stroke
408=4.030 bore 4 inch stroke

We have a good Iron Block out of a truck (LQ9) with a stock bottom end still in it at the shop if you're interested.

how much are you looking to get for it

you dont want the internals, not even the crank, just reuse your stock ls1 crank, its has less mass so its lighter than the truck crank

pm sent...and i did not know that about the mass of the truck crank but it makes sense. Haven't torn down too many truck LSx's beside a car LSx to know that one haha :)

yeah a 6.0 crank is the same dimenesions and will give you the same stroke as a 5.7 crank, just the 6.0 is solid through the crank where the 5.7 is gun drilled to make it lighter, when balancing a 4.0 bore piston which is heavier than a 347 stock piston they will just have to add mallory to the crank to balance it out, if you use a 6.0 crank they actually will take weight out of the bob wweights.

The crank was what got me into this mess in the first place. When i get it back ill take a pic of it and put it on here. I had a local shop to look it to see if they could fix it. Could i just buy a regular 5.7 crank and reuse the pistons and everything else??

yeah you can, or just send the crank out, the shop i go to for 125 bucks totally will refinish a crank, even if its bent a little they can fix it. they send it out for a week and it comes back brand new. you will just need some oversized bearings which dont cost anymore than standard bearings go.

i used 5.7 crank goes for 150-175 in ok condition.

I'm going to sell my crank when it comes out. I don't know how long you are going to be waiting for one, but whenever Jay gets ready to begin, mine will be out soon. I would guess Saturday at the latest.
