dont worry about your block, you cant see much of it once its back in. you ned to worry about cleaning up the engine bay, hiding wires, filling in holes, relocating certain things, and painting the bay up real nice. depends on how wild you wanna go with it really, but painting the block wouldnt be real noticable at all. you can paint you valve covers, water put, front cover, coil packs and all that with engine enamel, that usually looks nice. but def if youre wanting to paint the bay, do it now when the motor's out

How much would you charge to help me with that project. Since you know alot about it.

i just finished mine, welded up all the holes on the fender, base coat, clear coated the engine bay alpine white, hid the wiring harness also in the fender, ran new brake lines.

also if your block is aluminum leave it alone, just like david said, clean it, mine was iron and is red, gun metal valve covers and a black intake

find out how many miles are on the springs, valves springs wear out quite fast with big cams, anything over stock is considered a big cam.
5-10k miles on those springs with that cam and id say get new springs for sure.

I think thats only with cams over .600 lift. (at least, that seemed to be the general consensus on tech at one time)

Thats a good deal for new parts. You may want to rethink that cam choice unless you buy a new converter. That car will most likely be a dog out of the hole without atleast a 3000 rpm stall converter imo.

im gonna try it out first if it does dog out ill buy a bigger stall. Im eventually going to anyways just really dont have all the funds lol

I don't think you will have any trouble with driveability, but that cam doesn't make power in the range that would be optimum for that converter. I bet that converter is perfect for a stock cam though.

I know what you mean about funds, you gotta do what your pocket book allows.

yea i was outbid on the cam anyways so back to the start lol. The kit went for $740

ms3 is a decent cam, nothing crazy, dave also has a nice cam he will be getting rid of, good idle, good power

just remember, bigger isnt better on a 347 LS1, do some homework and your setup will be much better

WhiteIrocZ

A 224 224 cam like Dave's would keep you from having to buy a converter too,and dave makes real good power with it.

Or if you truly want to do it right the first time, do a shift kit, cooler, and stall first, pick up the time at the track and then get a bigger cam. You'll be much happier doing a stall then big cam then doing a big cam then a stall.

MrDavid
06-05-2008, 12:47 PM
Jay has already called "dibs" on my cam and springs. But, 224 cams pop up on LS1tech all the time for sale.

The EnforceR
06-05-2008, 03:42 PM
why are you selling your ms4?

MrDavid
06-05-2008, 06:22 PM
how did you gather that? Hughey and Chris were talking about my 224 cam, and how it would be good for his car and that he wouldn't need a bigger stall. Then I said: that cam is spoken for already. I never said anything about my MS4.

:attention:

The EnforceR
06-05-2008, 06:26 PM
oh i thought someone was talkin about chris's MS3 cam when talking about a cam he should go with and then i assumed the MS4 with you. dang this sun has gotent o me down here!

Already have the shift kit, and stall. Putting the Cooler on as soon as the get the motor back in

LTBlackBird

well...bigger stall, 2500 is a whittle baby one, great for a stock cam i actually love driving cars with small 2500-2800 stalls but the bigger the cam the bigger the stall. Hell you could probably sell it, come out of pocket a bit on a new 3200 or so stall, buy the cooler and do it all at once
