I brought my Camaro out of retirement and after getting it back up to speed with some tuneup stuff, I'm having issues with my rpm gauge. I think my shift points are way off. I swear I used to tickle redline at 30mph, 50mph, 80mph, and 100mph (for 1st through 4th gear respectively). Now it's more like 20, 35, 50, 70...
85-90 mph is about all I can get without getting close to yellow on the rpm gauge in 5th. I took my dash/gauges apart and everything looks in good condition. Both sets of wires going to the base of the distributor seem to be connected well enough.
Anyone know what could be causing this?
I've got a craftsman engine analyzer with rpm gauge to try and verify this issue, but I've misplaced the manual and don't have a clue where to put the green aligator clip or the 2 female tab connectors to pick up the rpms.
