Toyota is starting to figure out that they've bit off more than they can chew . The Toyota main team owner Michael Waltrip can't seem to even qualify, a top 15 finish for any Toyota is stellar, and they have no chance of winning diddly. Throwing a ton of money just isn't the solution in Nascar anymore.
Consider this: When Dodge re-entered the scene , they were by no means dominant BUT they were and still are competitive. They can win and do that on a regular basis while Toyota just flounders.I am not bashing them by any means, but this whole thing is becoming one big embarrassment for them. The Craftsman trucks fare much better than Nextel Cup. Maybe they should have focused on Busch Grand National first?
What's the solution? More money? No. A restructuring of management, recruitment of manpower in key positions , and perhaps a new team owner. Until this happens, Toyota can expect nothing but failure. It's not about convincing fans that they have the best quality product out there, it's about speed, endurance, and racing. Duh.
