03 Cobra...700HP??? Whatever!!

Well to make a long story short, I ran a guy tonight who calimed 700hp on his built 03 cobra. He pulled Hiltgen when he was spraying so I was next up on the list. The guy raced me without hesitation and I have to say that I LOVE the progressive controller. It worked like a champ. I did spin in 2nd because the tires aren't worth much anymore but after than we stayed neck and neck until the end of 4th where I had around a fender on him. But you know what they say: WINNING IS WINNING! I'll take it. I had no clutch left for 5th gear so it wouldn't go in at all, the clutch was sticking to the floor! Need new clutch and some ported heads and I would have put a minimum of 1 1/2 lengths on him. I would really like to know how much HP his car had now that I barley pulled him.

this was in chesnee tongiht and the cobra was black w/ chromw wheels and "stalker" on the rear bumper instead of saying "cobra." i wasnt there but dave told me bout it.

I don't know that guy is thinking about the same Cobra Chris because this guy said he has only had the car for 2 weeks. Unless he went to Greenville last weekend and raced that guy with the MS4 T/A then he probably raced a different car.

My clutch did the same thing yours did, he also wanted to go from low rolls, so I was spinning BAD, but still outran him. He popped the hood, and had a Whipple on it, and some other things. So I am sure its making decent power.

Well I gotta hand it to this guy, it was pretty fast. I only had about 750psi bottle pressure when we raced because the heater hadn't been on for 5 minutes and for some reason I raced with the headlights up, which i never do because it feels like two parachutes in the front of the car. I guess I didn't know how fast it was and I was expecting to put at least one length on him.

He said he has only had the car for about 2 weeks so how could you have raced him "a while back" when you were just a bolt'on car? And how did you pull him on just a 150? Reason I ask is because he pulled John by almost 2 car lengths when John is full bolt'on with 150 and he even has 4.10 gears. I am beginning to wonder if we are thinking of the same guy. His rear bumper said Stalker, I don't think his license plate said anything special.

Black 03 Cobra with lambo doors, and a stalker back bumper was the one I raced. Maybe it got sold. Had a Florida tag on it at the time. My car ran strong for what it was. Ran 8.10s @ 89 with just lid and longtubes. I have no idea. A Whipple Cobra should smoke a bolt-on, nitrous F-body.

7.20s idk about that. had a buddy get a best of 7.40s in an MS3 cam only auto w/ a big stall so youd hafta bang the hella outta those gears to get close.

More than a month. 7.20s probly won't happen because the car is so heavy, but if I can get 7.50s with the 3.42 gear, I will be happy. It should do it with 90 more horses than last time.

If I were you I would probably just concern myself more with the trap speed than the actual time. If you could achieve 95 or 96 that would be really good without nitrous.

7.20s, hell would have to freeze over, 7.5s id have to see it. power isnt everything and 6 speeds are not driver friendly. if you want to see what a 7.20 looks like we can run, if you can see my license plate at 60 mph, then you just ran a 7.80

I would definantly shit a gold brick if you ran anywhere remotely close to a 7.20 on cam only motor in a six speed with stock gear. I'm pretty sure it has never been accomplished unless lane electronics were screwed up. But, more power to you for trying.

Thomas will probably have to work on a Sunday this week, and on top of that, he will have to work late too. LOL, j/k dude. I hope you can make it out there. This guy didn't have 700hp at all. He was lying for sure about that, and i'm not sure what the minimum hp is with a whipple charger, probably around the 550 mark, give or take a few.

I'm fixing to go watch TMNT. I'll let yall know if its any good.

and that cobra was retarded... he said he had a 5.0 stroker motor, set of cams, ported/polished heads but it had a 3.2" pulley on it and MAYBE a metco lower setup but he was running about 15-17psi of boost most likely thru the 2.3 whipple... at MOST he was making 600... and considering his level of skill for driving it went as fast as a 350hp car... im pretty sure i coulda outran him in my gear'd GT from a low roll.... it was that sad...

Who are both of you guys first of all? Chris can be as arrogant as he would like to be. He pretty much isn't using a stall since it isn't working correctly and he is just punching it at green light getting 1.8 60' times, and he is still dialing it in trying to get the controller just right. BTW, those track times are from Greer, and I heard from everyone that Shadyside is a faster track. He has never been there. Neither of you has a reputation on here so don't just pop up out of the blue without at least introducing yourself and tell people what and what not to say about their car. As far as your geared GT beating this cobra, You better have one hell of a shot on it too with that gearing because if I barley pulled him on spray then a geared GT would see nothing but taillights 2 seconds into the race. I'm sure Robbies car a lot faster than it was before a cam, but he claimed that he wanted to run a 7.2 on motor. That just will not happen with stock gearing, with stock weight, on a stock rearend, in a 6 speed, AND with just a cam and bolt'ons! Read clearly "WILL NOT HAPPEN!" If you think your car is that fast on motor, then you can race Chris and see how you at least stack up aginst him first.

back up the train, you dont even know my car. im not bashing anyones car let alone robbies. i just dont see how everyone thinks power makes good ETs. heck my car on 275 eagle radials stock went 8.1s at 86 mph. yes i did have the slp 345 package with headers and lid, but that was it. well it dynod 349 rwhp in that trim and since ive added about 250 rwhp. now if i used your formula for speed i should be running 4.8s at 214 mph but it doesnt work that way. My car does not like to 60 foot yet so i do run good mph and slower ETs, and i also run a 150 shot at the track so your car from 3 years ago is similar to my setup. I am not arrogant but have been around enough to know that a cam only car with stock everything else doesnt go 7.6s. a vette is different. better clutch and weight distribution helps out but once you get mid 7s and down its not about how much hp on the dyno you made.

but for whats its worth i tried to race that car two sundays ago and he didnt want to. i would of ran him motor to motor or spray just to see how the ms4 was for comparisons. We can run thursday at Greer, i wasnt going to go but i can always show up/
